Three taps to know your food.

Snap

Point your camera at the dish — or the menu. Home-cooked, night market, restaurant plate, or a menu in any language.

Know

The dish comes back named in your language and its native script, with calories, macros, fiber, and sodium — most trackers stop at macros. Honest AI estimates, not false precision.

Ask

Bao remembers you and personalizes every answer — what to eat, exercise tips, or just how you're feeling today. All in your language.

The actual app.

Three things you'll really do in Bao — tap into each phone below and watch it work.

Menu scanner

Read any menu,
in any language.

Point Bao at a menu — Thai, Chinese, Korean, anything. It reads every dish, estimates the nutrition, and picks what actually fits your goal, in your language.

Tap “Done — Analyze” in the phone
Real scan output. Every number is a Bao estimate.

Is beef pho okay if I want to lose weight?

Beef pho can TOTALLY work for weight loss — it's actually a sneaky smart choice! 🍜 A typical bowl is mostly broth and veggies, so it lands around 300–400 cal depending on portion size. Load it up with the veggie tray — fresh herbs, bean sprouts, lime — for volume with basically zero calories, plus the protein from the beef keeps you full. 💪

WHY NOT A GENERAL TRACKER

Built for food they don't recognize.

None of the biggest AI calorie trackers — including the one you've probably already tried — claims to recognize Asian food, scan menus, or support Chinese. Checked live on their own sites.

Based on calai.app, snapcalorie.com, and myfitnesspal.com, checked July 2026. Not a claim these apps can't do this — just that none of them advertise it.

One more: MyFitnessPal's free tier runs ads — confirmed across multiple 2026 pricing breakdowns, and MyFitnessPal launched its own advertiser network this year. Bao has no ads on any plan, free or paid, ever.

Honest pricing. That's the feature.

No dynamic pricing, no fake countdown timers, no “limited offer” that never ends. The price is the price.

I'm Andrew, a Taiwanese-American living in Taipei. I lift and track calories to stay in a deficit — Western apps got my oatmeal and chicken breast right, but dinner was always a guess. Lu rou fan came back as “beef stew, 400 calories.” So I built the app I actually needed: one that knows Asian food as well as it knows Western food. Bao is made in Taiwan, by someone who eats both.

— ANDREW, FOUNDER

The honest answers.

How accurate is the AI?

Every figure is an estimate: food photographed at an angle isn't a lab scale, and we won't pretend otherwise. Bao gives you a best estimate, shows its confidence, and lets you correct anything in two taps. Corrections make it better.

Does it work outside Taiwan, or on Western food?

Yes. Bao is built around Asian food because nobody else was. It also scans burgers, salads, and barcodes from any country.

Is there Traditional Chinese?

Fully. The entire app works in Traditional Chinese, from onboarding to the coach. It's the reason Bao exists — no other calorie app has done this properly.

How do I cancel?

Two taps: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Bao → Cancel. No emails to write, no retention phone call, and the app tells you the same thing.

What happens to my data?

Your food log is yours. No ads means no ad tracking; the privacy policy spells it out in plain language.

Know your food. Finally.
