These terms govern your use of the Bao mobile application ("Bao", "the app"), operated by Digital Publishing Co ("we", "us", "our"). By using Bao, you agree to these terms.

1. What Bao Does

Bao is a nutrition tracking app that uses AI to analyze food photos, scan menus, log meals, and provide dietary guidance. Bao is a wellness tool, not a medical device.

2. Not Medical Advice

Bao provides nutritional estimates and general wellness suggestions. These are not medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment plans. Nutrition estimates are AI-generated approximations and may not be perfectly accurate. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, especially if you have medical conditions, allergies, or are taking medication (including GLP-1 medications).

3. Account

You must create an account to use Bao. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the app.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Bao offers a free tier with limited daily scans and a paid subscription ("Bao Pro") for unlimited access. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and managed by Apple's terms. You can cancel anytime in your device's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Bao for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Abuse the AI features (e.g., submitting non-food images, spamming the API)
• Share your account with others or create multiple accounts
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or subscription requirements

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of the data you provide (meal logs, photos, profile information). By using Bao, you grant us a license to process this data solely to provide and improve the service. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

7. AI-Generated Content

Nutritional estimates, meal recommendations, and coaching responses are generated by AI. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that AI outputs are complete, correct, or suitable for your specific situation. You use AI-generated content at your own discretion.

8. Apple HealthKit

If you connect Apple HealthKit, Bao reads and writes health data as described in our Privacy Policy. You can revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings. HealthKit data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

9. Availability

We aim to keep Bao available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Digital Publishing Co and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Bao, including but not limited to health outcomes based on AI-generated nutritional information. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for Bao in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Bao after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Digital Publishing Co operates.
